THIS PLANNER IS A LIFE CHANGER! Okay, I know that sounds dramatic and all but for a bride to be, it literally changed my whole wedding – planning game and in turn, changed my life. It’s kept my day to day planning life, stress free. If it weren’t for this planner, I would be as stressed as everyone told me I would be, planning a wedding. Before I tell you more about my experience with this planner and why I love it so much, I want you to know that you can see really great pictures of it, here.
I first heard of this planner when Whitney Rife, owner of The Retail Therapist, received one from Southern Weddings and she shared it on her Instagram Story. She only shared it’s cover but I was instantly interested because, duh – it’s beautiful! I loved the white, gold and that it says “Love Never Fails” as it’s from one of my favorite bible verses and obviously one that’s relevant when it comes to weddings! Whitney shared info on her planner right after Zachary and I had become engaged and I was looking for one, anyways. I am SO glad this one crossed my path. Let me tell you, I could go on and on about this planner but I have decided just to talk about my three favorite things.
- Timeline Checklist + Calendar Pages
- SO DURABLE!
- It not only helps you plan your wedding but also helps plan your marriage, because after all, that’s what matters.
I think that my favorite thing about the planner is that it has a timeline checklist at the beginning. It tells you, in general, what should be happening month to month from the time you get engaged up to the wedding day and believe me, it keeps things in check. I am a former wedding photographer and my sister is a wedding coordinator so honestly, I did have some prior wedding planning knowledge before starting to plan my own but this timeline reminded me and told me to take care of things I wouldn’t have ever thought of on my own. It get’s down to the nitty-gritty, like when you should get your marriage license, when you should buy your wedding shoes, when to buy wedding party gifts, when you start your marriage counseling (if you choose to do that), when you should pick out flowers and if they’re in season (yes, that’s a thing) and SO much more! You’re going to need that, bride!! In the back of the planner there are removable calendar pages. You fill in the month and dates! For me, this has been SO beneficial! It’s nice to have a to-do list but even nicer to be able to fill my “to-do’s” into a calendar in the same book! Also, you are able to print off extra calendar pages any time, FOR FREE, with the purchase of your planner! I have taken major advantage of this!
Secondly, this planner is hard to mess up! If you’re like me, when you go to your venue, or to meet with your vendors, wedding shopping, etc, you want to take your planner with you. Before getting this planner, I was using my regular semi-hard plastic covered planner from TJ Maxx and don’t get me wrong, I love that planner for day to day life but I needed my wedding planner to be tough. It’s cover is a hard canvas and it’s durable! It is white and I was actually a little concerned that it would get dirty, easily, but fortunately, it’s really easy to wipe off if you happen to get something on it! I was even able to get honey off! Don’t ask! It’s pages are thick and don’t rip at the binder ring. They don’t wrinkle either.
Lastly, this planner is filled with southern tradition ideas, ways to make your mama and mama in law happy, fun ways to keep your groom involved in the not so fun stuff, sweet gift ideas for your wedding party and family and so much more that REALLY matters a lot more than what color your napkins are, in the end. For instance, there are a few pages with “tasks” for you and your future hubby to complete over the course of your engagement, that will keep you focused on each other and to remind you to enjoy the fact that you are getting married and not to get stressed over the wedding itself. These tasks are divided by seasons. We were reminded to do things like, make a dessert for a neighbor in the summer, go on a picnic in the spring, have a movie night and make dinner together in the winter, volunteer together in the fall. You can even create your own ideas and do those! We did! It was nice to have something to keep us on track and thinking about one another rather than guest lists and seating charts! I don’t want to give away too many details but, the last few pages in the planner help you to plan out your marriage just as the book helped you plan your wedding, in the sweetest way. Totally worth a read!
In the grand scheme of things, this planner is AFFORDABLE! It’s currently $44.00 in The Southern Weddings Shop and worth every single penny. Just read the reviews, here! You’ll see!! I truly believe that every bride should own this planner. I would not recommend it if I didn’t feel it were the absolute best out there! Happy planning, girl! Let me know if you need anything!
